Keeping the site working

A very short list remembers whether you have dismissed a notice and holds basic display preferences so pages look consistent. No personal information moves through them and the site behaves oddly when they are blocked.

Counting who reads what

Anonymous measurement of which reviews get opened, how long they hold a reader and roughly where the visit started. It exists so the re-testing schedule follows reader interest rather than our own curiosity. No individual is identified at any point.

Crediting a registration

Follow a commercial link and the operator sets its own cookie so an account opened afterwards is credited correctly. It is their cookie under their policy, and it gives us no view of your account, your balance or anything you do once you are inside.

Refusing all of it

Every browser blocks and clears cookies from its own settings, and nothing here depends on your agreement to anything. Blocking measurement costs you nothing at all. Blocking attribution costs us the commission and costs you nothing, and we would rather write that down than hide it.

If the list changes

Anything beyond these three jobs gets added to this page before it starts running rather than after somebody notices.
